How to make a relay for a solenoid with a 12VDC contactor?
I’m quite new to this, and I’m trying to make a relay for a solenoid that is connected to the terminals via a contactor (MCT).
The contactor is 12V, like the solenoid, and I was thinking of getting a 12V relay and using another solenoid to drive the relay, but am not really sure how to do this.
What I did is,
connect the solenoid to the power supply
connect the solenoid to the relay
and the relay works fine.
However, I want to make sure that whenever the contactor is turned ON, the relay turns ON.
I assume this has something to do with the DC current, and that MCTs are kind of AC only, but how does one change the relay? I would assume, a resistor or something to limit the current to the relay, but how do I do that?

Your 12 VAC contactor will not drive a relay. A relay requires a DC voltage. A contactor is a device that operates in two modes. When it is de-energized, it makes a mechanical connection, and when it is energized, it disconnects. That is the function of a contactor.
A contactor is not a device that turns on and off. It does not have a switch like a light bulb, a relay, or a solenoid.
