I am making a program that reads the text file. I have the functionality to get a line out of the text file, but if a line is too long, the program will start skipping lines. I am using the line.Length in my logic to determine when it should skip lines.
But there is one bug, where I can’t figure out how to fix it.
Consider the following:
I have a text file with three lines:
Line 1 is longer than 2 characters.
Line 2 has only one character.
Line 3 is even longer than the previous line.
Now if I open the file in the debugger and run the program:
Program will run fine. The program will correctly skip the lines which are « too long ».
Now consider the following scenario:
I have a text file with three lines:
Line 1 is longer than 2 characters.
Line 2 has only one character.
Line 3 is even longer than the previous line.
Line 4 is longer than 4 characters.
Now if I open the file in the debugger and run the program:
Program will run fine. The program will correctly skip the lines which are « too long ».
Now it gets weird. In this case, program should skip lines 2 and 3, but program skips lines 2 and 4, which is exactly the same as the previous case. This makes me think that line.Length is not working properly.
Question:
How can I fix this problem to make my program work correctly? I have tried a few things, such as inserting line.Replace( »
« , » « ) but that didn’t help.
