FFpocket is written in native C++ and does not require any intermediate.h/.cpp files to be created.
As a result, not only does the compiler generate more compact binary code, but it also allows for faster execution.
Additionally, to provide faster execution, FFpocket is designed to use instruction reordering.
FFpocket does this by inserting instructions (streamed out of the compiler) inside of other instructions.
This results in optimal execution with less instructions being executed on the CPU.
However, the use of this type of instruction reordering does result in a small increase in CPU overhead.
Furthermore, FFpocket can be used to run on a desktop computer as a kind of ‘decoding’ proxy, to enable offloading the multimedia decoding to the desktop computer.
FFpocket can be integrated with ffmpeg.
However, ffmpeg cannot be included in an FFpocket application as FFpocket cannot be distributed or shared by application developers.
In addition, FFpocket’s own ffmpeg integrator library can only be used to record a video stream to the video framebuffer.

First of all FFpocket is mainly used for fast multimedia preview. This means the time for FFpocket to decode and render a video file is about 5 to 10 ms. So FFpocket can support fast seeking. Here is an example for fast seeking using FFpocket:
1) We need a file which we want to preview, for example a movie in.m4v format.
2) After creating that file, we need to instruct FFpocket to decode and render that file as fast as possible.
￭ Using the file path instead of filename to tell FFpocket the file to decode.
￭ Specifying the start/end frame time and FPS.
3) FFpocket will start rendering the multimedia file if the specified time range is ahead and end when it is behind.
￭ The time is in seconds (the movie’s length should be in hours).
￭ The FPS (frames per second) is the fps or frame/time of the multimedia file.
￭ The time to begin rendering is begin_render_time.
￭ The time to end rendering is end_render_time.
￭ The time to check if rendering is stopped or not is stopping_time.
FFpocket is using FFmpeg, so the main feature of FFpocket will be extended and some new functions will be added.

￭ FFpocket supports seeking in the FFmpeg decoded and rendered multimedia file.

￭ « FFmpeg Caching » is used by Jubler, so you can use FFpocket’s FFmpeg decoding and rendering in your own applications.
