Transpan is an application that will allow you to transpose chords and tablatures. Chords are written in blue and tablatures red. The Transpan application will allow you to colorize the chords and tablatures after which you can transpose the song to a different key.

Transpan can be used for two things. You can transpose a song to a different key or you can colorize the chords and tablatures of a song in which you are not able to transpose the song.
To transpose to a different key, open the menu Transpan and select Transpose. After clicking OK you will get a window that will contain a key signature, transposing settings and an empty grid. This is where you can transpose chords to a different key.

At the beginning the song is transposed to C. Press the up key to transpose to D. Now press Shift+F7 to transpose back to C.
To colorize a song, open the Transpan menu and select Colorize. The chords will be blue and the tablatures red. To uncolorize the chords, open the Transpan menu and select Decolorize.
After the chords are colored you can now transpose to a different key. You must first open the menu Transpan and select Transpose. After the file is transposed you can colorize the chords again by open the Transpan menu and select Colorize.
If you want to uncolorize the chords you can open the Transpan menu and select Decolorize. If you have done the transposing to a new key before the colorizing, this will not work. The colorizing of this will be ignored.
After the transposing is done you can close the window by clicking ok.

On a last note, if you are using the MIDI version of the application it has many advantages. For example, the Transpan application will show you a chart with the transposing. MIDI is more convenient because you can transpose the song while playing it. The Transpan application can not do this.

The Transpan chart is optimized for piano players. If you are not a piano player, you can only transpose the song to a different key. If you want to transpose the song to a different key the keys will be transposed and you will not be able to transpose back. However if you are an experienced piano player it is easy to use.

The Transpan application transposes chords and tablatures to different keys. It has been designed for musicians and composers who want to transpose a song in real time.
This is a very small application and thus there will be some bugs. Here are the rules for fixing them:
– Remove the subject and add it as an attachment.
– Add a line break into the e-mail.
– Avoid to post a line with more than one attachment.
– Do not post single chords as an attachment, paste them as a comment.
I will have a try to fix all the issues in the next days and publish a new version. At the moment I will not comment or answer your e-mails, however, If you send a bug report or have an issue, please contact me via the web page:

I have solved the double tap feature, but I can’t figure out how to make the chords round up to the next note, so that it plays correctly. I have tried many times, but I have not had success yet.

Thanks for the report. I have made the current version available for download. Since I have been too busy, I could not post the changes to the last version. This version has a new featured: drag and drop the chords from the main window to the chord palette.
